Pietro Fittipaldi Facts

  1. Born in Miami, Florida, Pietro had started his racing career competing in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series in 2011, at the age of just 15. He made an immediate impact by winning 4 out of the 20 races in the season.
  2. He had competed again in that tournament in 2012 but had moved to Europe in 2013 to pursue a career in open-wheeled racing. A year later, in 2014, he had dominated the Protyre Formula Renault Championship to such an extent that he had clinched the title with 1 race remaining in the season. He had ended up winning 10 out of the 15 races that season.
  3. In May 2018, during the qualifying event of the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, a part of the year’s World Endurance Championship, he was involved in a horrible crash that left him with both his legs broken.
  4. In December 2020, when he had made his Formula One debut, he had become the first grandson of a former Formula One driver to become a Formula One driver himself.
